Juliana Chan

Professor Juliana Chan graduated from the Liverpool University, UK, and is now Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics and Assistant Dean (education) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is also the founding chairman of the Hong Kong Foundation of Research and Development in Diabetes (www.hkfrdd.org) and the founding director of the Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity established under the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Professor Chan is the principal investigator of a technology transfer of structured diabetes care model, which resulted in the establishment of the Qualigenics Diabetes Centre (www.qualigenics.com), an academic-industrial collaboration. She is currently leading a group of clinicians and basic scientists to examine various aspects of diabetes from molecular biology to disease management with particular focus on diabetic kidney disease and young onset diabetes in Chinese populations. She is a member of the executive committee of the International Diabetes Federation Western Pacific Region and serves as a World Health Organisation Consultant for the Plan of Action for Western Pacific Declaration on Diabetes (2006-2010). She has published more than 250 peer-reviewed original articles, reviews, and book chapters.
